In 1987, College Hospital Enterprises acquired Costa Mesa Medical Center, a 99-bed medical surgical hospital. After extensive renovations and additions, the facility was renamed as College Hospital Costa Mesa with 41 medical surgical beds and 81 inpatient psychiatric beds.

In 1989, the Crisis Response Team was created by College Health Enterprises in order to provide mobile psychiatric assessment services.

Today, College Hospital Costa Mesa is a JCAHO accredited, 122 bed facility that provides high quality medical, surgical and psychiatric care. The facility is one of the busiest mental health providers in the State.
